How can a person read (and study) Hebrews 10:23-27 and not
understand that it requires doing? Perhaps I am not supposed to
understand? Ephesians 4:32 talks of being kind to one another and
some refuse to speak. Numerous passages demand action on our part
and yet there is only talk. What is it that we don't understand about
"doing the Word."
James says we are to be "doers of the word." (Jas.1:22) Do you
suppose that James was conveying what God wants? or do you think
that hearing (reading and studying) is enough? Could we be missing the
I've been thinking (always dangerous) that it might be better to read
less and practice more. What good does it do to read 10 commands
and obey none. Perhaps it would be better to read one and obey that
one. THEN we can move on to another command to read and obey.
At the least we would be obedient to what we have read and studied.
Give me neither poverty nor riches, but only what brings glory to You.
